She is currently a student and the Cultural Affairs Commissioner of UCLA. Alison M. De La Cruz is a poet, playwright, performance artist, community organizer, event producer, até. Alison is currently preparing for the debut of her solo show, Sungka, which will premiere at California State University, Dominguez Hills in October, 1999. She is an alumna of the David Henry Hwang Writers Institute at East West Players. Cheryl Deptowicz is a Flamboyant Filipina Feminist who laces words together to break down the barriers of racism, sexism, and homophobia amongst us all. You can find her in community meetings, celebrations, marches and rallies as a political activist with Radical Women. For chaotic fun, she sings out of tune and dances up a storm. Elena Domingo is starting her Master's of Fine Arts in creative writing at cal state long beach in two weeks. She absolutely loves mochi ice cream that she can eat it from here on to eternity. (CAUTION: to spare yourself from any visual and/or auditory harm, please don't ever ask her to dance and/or sing). Myra Dumapias is a proud single mama of a beautipool almost-2 year old boy Daniel, born with music in his heart and wisdom in his eyes. She is of the strong philosophical belief that sugar is pure evil and comes in too many dang forms! pam gil: a native san diegan and senior at ucla majoring in psychology living life through understanding the meaning of love-which is sacrifice: family community creativity GOD-her passions. through "spit-wit", she attempts to simplify the complexities of love... Hope- Emily Porcincula Lawsin plants rice with the Filipino American National Historical Society, teaching Asian American Studies at California State University, Northridge. Her poetry & essays have been published in Flippin': Filipinos on America, Teaching Asian America, The FANHS Journal, Homegrown 3 and The Seattle Times. She has performed on radio & stage at various events in "She-attle", Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New York, Hawai'i, & Manila. Dawn Bohulano Mabalon: Stockton, CA native and stanford ph.d. candidate in history. She is a writer, performance poet, documentary filmmaker, wannabe standup comedian and hip hop head who lives in san francisco. She is co-producer and co-director of beats, rhymes and resistance: pilipinos and hip hop in l.a. and is currently working on a documentary on Stockton's historic Little Manila. michelle magalong is a flip-flop lovin' sandy egan who enjoys lumpia, bananas, & mochi ice cream. on a masochistic side, she edits PINAYtration while walking the walk & talking the talk at UCSD. but she couldn't be any of this without her family, peeps in the community, and russell muranaka. Chamina Maniquis is an aspiring hobo with plenty of time on her hands (that is, until school starts, then she's masquerades as an elementary school teacher). She dedicates her written stuff to Momma, Dadda, Queez, Egg, WSP, and friends... it's all just trash until they can find a kernel of truth in it. Tita Pambid is a woman in search of the meaning of life. From P.I. to China, Macau, Sri Lanka and the U.S., four kids and several relationships, deaths and rebirths--her journey goes on. Darlene Rodrigues- Julia Reodica has been involved with numerous performance/artistic groups in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco. In San Francisco where she now lives, Julia strives to strenthen artistic communities locally and nationwide through her featured work and contributions to: The Oakland Museum, Ultra Down Productions, shellac magazine, pole Public Access Show, and (re)creations sites. In between projects, she becomes one with nature as much as possible! Jenny San Angel is a musician, songwriter, and performance artist by night, and slave to corporate America by day. She was last seen performing two of her songs "She" and "Hey Baby" in "Tanglaw" at the Lyceum Theatre in San Diego from her debut album Tulis, Parochial Blues in collaboration with singer, guitarist, songwriter, and soul mate Gertie Meza. She has also performed an autobiographical piece entitled Rockstar with the Rad Asian Sisters Ensemble and the women from Peeling the Banana in a bi-coastal Treasure in the House performance at Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica, CA. Faith Santilla is a community organizer for Search to Involve Pilipino Americans and a Member of the Balagtasan Collective, a group of young pinays and pinoys dedicated to uplifting our people by way of hip-hop, art and the spoken word. She is currently the reigning champion of the first ever 92.3 the Beat's Poetry Slam, and a spokesperson for a new campaign promoting community activism spearheaded by Rock the Vote. Allyson Tintiangco-Fremont Pinay-Ohlone Transfer-UCB UGrad-UCLA Doctora. I recieved my Ph.D. in Education at UCLA's Graduate School of Education and Lilyann Bolo Villaraza - Paula J. Villanueva has a deep love for creative expression in all forms. She tries her hand @ singing and poetry, constantly humbled by the visions of artists everywhere.
