Founded by Tisa Chang in 1977, Pan Asian Rep is one of the most influential Asian American theatres. Drawing upon the second largest pool of Asian American theatrical talent in the country, Pan Asian Rep has premiered many new Asian American works and developed many new actors; all told, it has presented over 66 productions, including 20 world premieres . As well, it is one of three theatre companies in the nation to have been awarded a 3-to-1 challenge match from the National Endowment for the Arts (very impressive in these days of shrinking government support for the arts).
