Lecturer In Lighting Design And Technology: Queens College

Duties: Teach classes in theatre technology and lighting design including teaching skills in lighting technology, sound technology, and scenery construction and rigging. Supervising technician for production lighting installations; supervise and coordinate professional and student labor. Supervise student designers and technicians, working with students to insure proper skill training. Designing lighting for department productions. Supervising the care and maintenance of our lighting and sound equipment and department classroom technical equipment.

Qualifications: MFA in Theatrical Lighting Design and related professional experience.
3 years college teaching experience. Knowledge of theatrical lighting design and its crafts. Knowledge of both traditional hand drafting and computer methods. Excellent technical skills: expertise in hanging, circuiting, focusing and rigging. Excellent computer skills: expertise in computer control systems and programming; expertise in digital robotic equipment including intelligent fixtures, color scrollers, and knowledge of projection techniques and equipment. Knowledge of instrument and electrical systems maintenance. Experience with sound technology and equipment.
Additional Skills Desired: Professional experience in designing for theatre, opera and dance. Knowledge of the history of design. Knowledge of other theatre design disciplines: sound, scenery, and costumes.

Appointment begins Spring semester 2010. Salary Range: $$39,399 – $65,267. Excellent benefits. All materials must be received by October 31, 2009 for consideration.
