Casting Call A Language Of Their Own

Rude Guerrilla Theater Company is casting A Language of Their Own by Chay Yew -- a lyrical and dramatic meditation on the nature of love, desire, sexuality, and self-definition as four men -- three Asian and one white -- come together and drift apart in a series of interconnecting stories. The show runs from Mar 30 - Apr 28, 2007 on Fridays and Sat at 8pm. Sun at 2:30pm. Thursday show on Apr 26. Directed by Aurelio Locsin.

Auditions will be held on Feb. 4 (Sun) 7-9 pm & Feb. 5 (Mon) 7-8 pm Callbacks are on Feb. 5 (Mon) from 8-10:30 pm.

Auditions will be at the theater, located at 202 N. Broadway, Santa Ana, CA 92701. Please bring pic and resume. Prepare to cold-read from the script.

BREAKDOWN

NON-UNION. MUST BE COMFORTABLE WITH GAY INTIMACY. All characters are male.

OSCAR: thirties, foreign-born Chinese. Unobtrusive accent helpful but not required. Self-sacrificing. Goes from emotionally reserved to physically demonstrative and affectionate. Eventually shows the physical effects of AIDS.

MING: twenties, American-born Chinese, with no accent. Emotional, demonstrative, conflicted, sexual. Becomes physically abusive. NUDITY REQUIRED.

DANIEL: college-age Filipino. Loyal, political, flamboyant, pop-culture expert. Funny but driven enough to be at Harvard Business School. Improv skills helpful.

ROBERT: mid-to-late twenties, white, likes Asians, enjoys high culture. Attractive, idealistic, sincere. Becomes physically abused. NUDITY REQUIRED.
