A call for scripts

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Eastern New Mexico University is accepting original play submissions for:

Diversity: The Condition of Being Different
A festival of 10 minute plays

Guidelines for submission are as follows:

1. The play must be on a subject of Diversity. For example: racial and gender issues, gender identification, etc. Bilingual plays are encouraged.
2. The play must be no more than 10 minutes (reading time).
3. The play must be a unit set with minimal props and characters.
4. Musicals will not be accepted.
5. A $10 application fee must accompany all entries (waived for ENMU students and alumni). Make check or money order payable to 'University Theatre Center'.
6. A SASE must accompany all mailed manuscripts.
7. A cash prize of $200 will be awarded to the play deemed most Diverse by the reading committee.
8. Manuscripts must be postmarked or brought in by October 31, 1999.
9. Authors of plays chosen will be notified by December 3, 1999.

A reading committee consisting of ENMU professors, staff, and local artists will choose ten to twelve "diverse" plays. Each will receive a minimal black box production directed by students and faculty of ENMU. Festival dates are tentatively Feb 9-11. A videotape of each show will be furnished to all chosen playwrights.
