Takeout to the Ballgame

Stir-Friday Night!, Chicago’s premier Asian American comedy troupe, launches its new production Takeout to the Ballgame on August 13th at the Studio Theater of the Chicago Cultural Center, 77 East Randolph Street. 

The production will run Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., with a Sunday matinee at 3 p.m., through September 19th.  There will not be a show on Sunday, September 12th.  Tickets are $15 regular, or $12 for students.  Group rates are available for groups of 10 or more for $10 per person.  Reservations can be made by calling (847) 663-9257.  The running time is just over an hour.  Media comps and interviews are available upon request. 

Takeout to the Ballgame is a sketch comedy show, comprised of short scenes and musical numbers designed to be both thought-provoking and entertaining.  Celebrating SFN!’s ninth year of existence, Takeout to the Ballgame will highlight the best SFN! has to offer. 

Cast member Foo Nguyen said, “I’m excited to be a part of the ‘best of’ Stir-Friday Night! show and welcome the chance to present the Asian American perspective to our audience!” Created in 1995, SFN! is a fixture in Chicago’s comedy scene.  The diverse cast of Korean, Japanese/Chinese, Indian, Indian/Polish, Filipina, and Vietnamese performers showcases its talents by using comedy as a tool to shed light on the Asian American and human experience. 

SFN! is a non-profit theatre company that attempts to dispel stereotypes and bridge understanding among social, racial, and intergenerational groups.  SFN! produces two original shows per year in Chicago, and performs year round at campuses, conventions, and corporate events across the nation. “Take out to the Ballgame” is directed by Ranjit Souri.  The cast includes Melissa Canciller, Andy Lee, Denice Lee, Jennifer Liu, Foo Nguyen, Harrison Pak, Danny Pudi, Sonal Shah, and Aimee Shyn.  The technical director is Michael Stevenson.
