Seeking SE Asian artists (Los Angeles area)

South East Asian Artists Leilani Chan and Ova Saopeng would like to invite Laotian Americans to contribute their personal stories and images that tell of their refugee experience. All stories and images will be included in their gallery exhibition and residency at SPARC and incorporated into "Refugee Nation," a national theater project. Bring your refugee photos and documents, we will scan them for you and your family. bring your parents and grandparents to share their stories.

Members of the Laotian Community can participate by: visiting the SPARC gallery, talking to the artists on Saturdays from 1-4 in the gallery, contribute stories and images online, contact the artists via email or phone to set an appoint for an oral history interview, or take part in performance and oral history workshops. Work created during this residency at SPARC will go on to be presented in Santa Monica, New York and Boston, MA.
