Playtime with Kristina Wong!
(A Performance and Writing Workout for artists interested in creating original performance work.)
About: This workshop is ideal for artists in all disciplines who find the writing for performance process to be confining. Playtime is a quick, more active way to generate dozens of ideas, images, humor, performance phrases and personas to use in your creative process. Workshops start with basic theater warm-ups. We’ll do exercises that explore improvisation, puppetry, collaborative work, and dramaturgy. Artists of all experience levels can thrive in this workshop.

When: This workshop meets for two sessions only! (6/18 and 6/25, both Thursdays) Come to one or both!

Time: 7-9 pm

Please read on what to bring to each session. Object Playtime! (meets on 6/18) Bring 10-15 objects (photos, toys, costume pieces, souvenirs, books, whatever!) that relate to the story you are interested in telling. If you can’t come up with these items, you can also bring objects that you find compelling or are part of your creative process.

Picture Playtime! (meets on 6/25) Bring in 10-15 visuals that are compelling to you. These can be print outs or photocopies if you don’t have originals. These can be personal images, drawings, news images, print-outs, flyers that all connect (in obvious and non-obvious ways) to a story you are interested in telling. If you don’t have a particular piece or story that you are working on, bring in 10-15 images that are compelling to you.
