TONGUE IN A MOOD was originally established in 1992 by
comedians Allan Manalo, ennedy Kabasares, Ron Muriera and Rex Navarette
for the purpose of infiltrating the many commercialized Filipino Fiestas
with satirical sketch comedy and to form a writing group for a television
project. After a year, the group broke up, but was re-established in 1996
by Allan Manalo who brought in performance artist Patty Cachapero and comedian
Kevin Camia. Since then they have performed at Stanford University, UC Berkeley,
UC Davis, Santa Clara University and most recently at Northwestern University
in Chicago. Tongue In A Mood mounted their first theatrical production in
September 1997 at Bindlestiff Studios, a small black box theater in the
SOMA district. TSISMIS (chiz miz), the title of their first show
ended up selling out nine of their twelve dates. Their next two productions,
MERRY TSISMIS and THE KALAT SHOW also sold out their respective
runs. The group has also been published in the November 1997 issue of ZYZZYVA
literary journal.
