About the Filmmakers:

MICHAEL KANG (director) Self-proclaimed the Beat Takeshi of New York City, Michael has tried to spread himself as thin as possible while mastering the art of juggling credit cards. Since graduating from NYU's Dramatic Writing Program, he has freelanced as a script writer for numerous production companies. He recently created and developed an animated pilot with Eli Balser entitled Stacky The Pancake Boy. He is currently working on a feature script inspired by Ed Lin's short story "The Hotel" which he plans to shoot as soon as a large sack of money drops from the sky. He also facilitates a screenwriting workshop through the Asian American Writers' Workshop. In addition, Michael is an actor/performance artist - you may recognize him from his work with Peeling The Banana or as the dancing Asian guy on the Virgin Cola "Say Something" box.

BERTRAND WANG (co-writer, lead) is an angry yellow man living in Amerikkka. As lead vocalist for SuperChink, he gets to rant and rave about it! A founding member of the Asian American performance art group Peeling the Banana, he is currently touring his one man performance show and lecture, "Straight From the Temple." Bertrand has been involved with the Asian American communities in New York City since 1991, working around issues like anti-Asian violence and labor struggle in Chinatown. During the day, he works as a prevention case manager for the Asian Pacific Islander Coalition On HIV/AIDS. Much love to all the brown and yellow brothers and sisters! Destroy the transgressors and inspire the righteous!

About the performers:

SUPERCHINK Funk. Rock. Hip hop. Fusion. Asian American. SuperChink addresses Asian American issues with a fresh organic sound and Synthesis.

Drummer Geugin Han, bassist Eric Lee, guitarist Atsuo Nitta and vocalist Bertrand Wang formed SuperChink in September of 1997. In less than a year, they've brought their sound to Connecticut, Minnesota and all over New York City. Thanks for the continuous support of ALL our people!!
