Singing Workshop for YouthSinging Workshop for Youth (ages 6-16) Sessions to encourage musical appreciation, participation, freedom and expression through singing. Group singing (ensemble) coordination/development, as well as individual attention. The workshop is the heart of the Pacific Youth Choir, based at the Japanese American National Museum. The choir performed the National Anthem at the JANM Anniversary Dinner. A recording session of the Youth Singing Workshop/Pacific Youth Choir singing original music is being scheduled for this summer. All singers will receive a demo CD containing their song, "Walking Through The Jungle" by the end of the year 2000. The CD are songs built on children's story/art books, original music by Scott Nagatani (composer/musical director) and will be produced as a demo for the Children's Museum of Los Angeles. Kerry Carnahan will also be singing on the CD, comprised of at least 20 storysongs. Some of these songs are being performed this summer by the Reader's Theater Project (Children's Museum) at the Santa Monica Place shopping mall community room (Friday mornings in August 11am & 1pm), The Los Angeles Zoo (July 7 and July 14, 2:00pm & 4:00pm shows), the Children's Museum of L.A., and also at the Japanese American National Museum on Sunday, July 30. 8-Week Session Fee: $150 (JANM Membership) per student, $200 non-JANM members. 213 625-0414 (ask for class enrollment).
