Call for Actors (New York City)

Yangtze Repertory Theatre will be holding auditions for African-American, Asian and Latino actors for its production of In The Silence Of The Heart, an original drama written and to be directed by Joanna Chan, Artistic Director.

The fictional story, set on Labor Day weekend in 2008, tells of a black family that has adopted a young Chinese boy 10 years earlier. It deals with racial biases, the concept of family and the nature of forgiveness.

SEEKING ALL 20 LEADING AND SUPPORTING ROLES (singing required; dancing optional) including: the 4 members of the black family (grandfather, father, mother and their teenaged son), the adopted Chinese teenaged son, and a multi-ethnic (Latino, Spanish-speaking a plus, African-American and Asian) ensemble of the 2 young people’s friends.

Auditions will be held on Wed., Mar. 25; Thurs., Mar. 27, Sunday, Mar. 29 and Monday, Mar. 30 in Transfiguration Church auditorium at 29 Mott Street in Chinatown (enter from side door on Moscos Street) from 6:00 p.m. till 8:30 p.m.

Please prepare brief monologue and a short song and dance routine.
The production will run for 12 performances from May 28 till June 14 at Johnson Theater at Theater For The New City.

Rehearsals to be held in the evenings of Mon., Wed., Thurs. and Sun. begin on Wednesday, April 1. STIPEND. NON-EQUITY
