Bondage
Orlando International Fringe Festival
April 1997
It can fairly said that the show created some buzz in South
Florida. Produced by theatre students at the University of Central Florida,
the show, according to the Orlando Sentinel, focussed on "the
shifting power in the relationship between a man and the masked woman he
hires to bring him to his knees...The hourlong play, a meditation on racial
and sexual power and prejudice, isn't nearly as subtle as M. Butterfly....Yet
Brook Hanemann is such a comic delight as the dominatrix who is having a
rotten day - snaking around the set, hanging by her knees from a crossbar
- that she makes even the show's weirder moments (and there are plenty)
bearable."
