NWAAT hosts first ever Asian American theatre convening

The weekend of May 21 and 22 saw the first ever Asian American theatre convening, as representatives from across the nation converged on Seattle, WA to discuss the past, present and future of Asian American theatre. Representatives from companies as diverse as the Asian American Theater Company, New WORLD Theatre (Amherst, MA), East West Players, QBD Inc., Theater Mu, National Asian American Theater Company and Ma-Yi Theatre joined host theatre NWAAT. As well, representatives were present for the Asian American Writers Workshop, Theatre Magazine and Theatre Communications Group.

A more complete and comprehensive report will be forthcoming from Northwest Asian American Theatre (and I will post the URL when it becomes available), but I think it might be useful to post a few thoughts and impressions (besides...who's going to stop me????).
