Ovation Award Nominee Brahmin and the Tiger Returns to Tradition

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES Nominated for a 2012 Ovation Award in ³Lyrics/Music for an Original Musical,² The Brahmin and the Tiger returns by popular demand to the Rosenthal Theater at Inner-City Arts.

A presentation by hereandnow theater company, The Brahmin and the Tiger utilizes original taiko music and movement to enliven a collection of Asian and Pacific Island folk tales and create a transcendent experience for all ages.

³Much can be lost when ancient stories are re-imagined and retooled as we¹ve seen with re-interpretations that take the essence of a story but discard the nuance in favor of explosions and spectacle. The Brahmin and the Tiger seeks to restore the original intent while not losing a relevancy to today¹s audiences,² says Director John Miyasaki.

The Brahmin and the Tiger features award-winning actress Jully Lee along with Masato Baba, Jen Baik, Kamil Haque, David Wells, and Vincent Yap.

The Brahmin and the Tiger opens October 5th and runs Fridays at 8pm; Saturdays at 8 pm; and Sundays at 2 pm for the first two weekends. Starting October 20th performances run Fridays at 8pm; Saturdays at 2pm and 8pm; and Sundays at 2pm.

All performances will be at The Rosenthal Theater, Inner-City Arts, 720 Kohler Street, Downtown Los Angeles, CA 90021.
