Three Outer Critics nominations for Golden Child

The New York Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers covering theatre for non-NYC newspapers and media, has awarded three nominations to David Henry Hwang's newest show, Golden Child, which opened in April at the Longacre Theatre.

These awards, which cover both Broadway and off-Broadway productions, were for Outstanding Broadway play (other contenders are Art, Jackie: An American Life and The Beauty Queen of Leenane), Outstanding Scenery (Tony Straiges) and Outstanding Actress in a Featured Role (Julyanna Soelistyo).

By way of comparisons, Beauty Queen received five to lead the dramas; Ragtime garnered 10 nominations, Cabaret with nine and Lion King with five, to lead the musicals.
