Core Artist -
Develop a 15-30 minute interdisciplinary performance piece to be performed as part of the TeAda Works Festival on August 16 & 17th at Angel’s Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro and on August 28, 29 & 30th at Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica.

Community Artist
Work with TeAda Works Artist and Residence and Core Artists in 8 interdisciplinary performance workshops to develop a 5-10 minute interdisciplinary performance piece.  Perform your new as part of the TeAda Works Festival on August 16 & 17th at Angel’s Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro and on August 30th at Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica.

Workshops and Labs will take place at the Japan American Cultural Community Center in downtown Los Angeles and at Angel’s Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro, CA.  

TeAda Productions
TeAda Production exists to enrich the repertoire of contemporary works created and performed  by people of color.

The TeAda Commitment to the Artist for the TeAda Works Festival and Labs/Workshps:
This is the 2nd annual TeAda Works Festival.  TeAda is dedicated to the selected/chosen artists by giving support and providing a nurturing atmosphere for the development of new work in the following ways:
&Mac183; Assist in finding rehearsal space for workshops and master classes for core and community artists.
&Mac183; Coordinate and develop the advertising and marketing materials
&Mac183; Provide front-of-house staff for the performances (your friends can volunteer and receive one free ticket).
&Mac183; Assist in finding technical staff such as stage managers and technical design staff.
&Mac183; Provide a reception on the opening or closing performance (TeAda relies upon donations from the businesses and communities we serve.)
&Mac183; Performance space for technical rehearsals and performance dates.

CORE ARTIST LAB

If you are selected to be a TeAda Works Core Artist, you will receive an Artist Fee of $500 to be shared with your collaborators as determined by you. You will also receive all the benefits listed above.

As a Core Artist you are REQUIRED to:
- Develop a NEW work (fifteen minutes in length) with a COLLABORATOR
- Create your own rehearsal schedule for yourself and your collaborator(s)
- Attend (1) dress and (1) technical rehearsal (technical rehearsal to be scheduled between August 25-27)
- Attend (3) Core Artists’ Labs to share your developing work with other participants
- Perform at an open rehearsal on August 16 & 17th at Angel’s Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro.
- Perform full staged work with lights on Thursday, Friday & Saturday (August 28-30) at Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica
-    Conduct (1) workshop with community artists
- Attend and give feedback (1) workshop with community artists
- Sell a minimum of (10) tickets to TeAda Works Festival at Angel’s Gate Cultural Center
- Assist in some way with TeAda Works Festival marketing/outreach

COMMUNITY ARTIST LAB
If you are selected to be a Community Artist, you will attend 7 workshops where you will work with TeAda Works Artist in Residence, Core Artists and guest artists to develop a new 5-10 minute performance piece. Community Artists can be an artists starting from scratch on a new work or someone who has no experience to some experience.

Workshops will be held on Saturdays 10am-1pm starting July 28.  Workshops and culminating in two open rehearsals on August 16 & 17 and one performance on August 30th.

As a Community Artist you are REQUIRED to:
-    To attend all seven workshops
-    Participate in all Community Artist Lab performances and open rehearsals
- To pay a  $50 workshop fee

In lieu of the $50 workshop fee you will be asked to:
-  Volunteer your services to help produce the TeAda Works Festival?  Volunteering is encouraged and offers participants the opportunity to learn the skills need to produce and develop your own work.
-    Sell a minimum of 10 tickets to TeAda Works Festival at Highway’s Performance Space.
-    Assist in some way with TeAda Works Festival marketing/outreach

3) Description of proposed new work you plan to develop as part of the Lab: Theme, disciplines involved, etc. (250 words max. that can be used for publicity in press release, postcard and program)

4) Describe your project and the nature of the collaboration (how will you plan to develop your new work). Please list potential collaborator(s) (choreographer, director, musician, dramaturge, etc.) you plan to work with on this project.

5) If you are planning on volunteering please describe the type of role you would like to learn more about for example: technical crew (lights, sound, costume & props), marketing & outreach, production & administration, etc.
