Intensive performance art workshop available for A/PA Women************************************* Workshop presentation Saturday, December 4, 1999 Workshops held at the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center This workshop is open to all Asian women, however you identify. Work will focus around story telling, performance art, ritual, and group work. Special emphasis on critical dialogue, leadership and exploring choices for future artistic growth. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT AN ACTING WORKSHOP. Workshop Facilitator: Denise Uyehara With guest workshop leaders: Elia Arce, Joel Talbert, Marcus Kuiland-Nazario, Workshop is FREE, but space is limited. What to bring: A pen, notebook, open mind, and 30 seconds of something that you are working on (for class work, this is NOT for an audition -- it could be a song, story, monologue, image, movement, etc.). Denise Uyehara is an award-winning performance artist, writer, and playwright whose work has been presented across the U.S. and internationally. She is a founding member of the Sacred Naked Nature Girls and teaches workshops with various communities including women, men, queer-identified, and seniors. This workshop is made possible in part by a grant from the City of Los Angeles, Cultural Affairs Department.
