Open call for performers for the 26th annual Asian Pacific American Heritage Festival on May 1st, 2005 is now open.

The day-long celebration of Asian Pacific American culture and community will features six-hour long live Music & Dance Showcase, a mini-film festival screening, a historical exhibit, children's activity programs, martial arts demonstrations, traditional craft workshops, a food court, and over 130 Asian and Asian Pacific American related booths. The event has a history of high media coverage featured in the New York Times, Newsday, the Village Voice, TimeOut magazine, NY1 News, and many ethnic papers.

On May 1st, 2005 from noon-6pm, the selected performing arts groups both established and up and coming will perform in front of an audience of over 10,000 on the main stage in Union Square Park.

We are currently seeking submissions from artists and companies working in music and/or dance including folk, traditional, and contemporary expressions. Theatrics performances such as "The Blue Man's Group" will also be accepted. Performance showcase must be appropriate for a 20-minute performance on an outdoor stage. Performers are paid a small stipend. Those that wish to perform, please mail complete contact information including a biography, past performances list, and a NTSC VHS videotape of a recent performance with at least 5 minutes of highlights in the review time. The video will be the primary tool to evaluate submissions. Supplementary CD recordings, photographs and letters of recommendation are also accepted.
