Casting Asian, South Asian and Pacific Islanders actors in all roles (AEA and non-AEA)

ROLES

  • Maria Callas – Asian, one of the greatest divas in opera history, drop dead funny, great comic timing, passionate and intense, glamorous, commanding, larger than life, late 40s, early 50s perhaps..
  • Soprano #1 (Sophie) - Juilliard opera student, Asian, perky (sings Amina’s aria from La Sonnambula ­ the sleepwalking scene)
  • Soprano #2 (Sharon) – Juilliard opera student, Asian, must sing opera well, very talented, very good actor, a bit fragile but has an explosive side. (sings the Letter Scene from Lady Macbeth by Verdi)
  • Tenor (Tony) - Juilliard opera student, Asian, a sense of humor, large, (sings Recondita Armonia from Puccini’s Tosca)
  • Accompanist (Manny) - Asian, male or female, any age, must play piano and accompany singers well, as unobtrusive as possible
  • Stagehand – Asian male, 20's, student, attempts to fulfill the requests of Callas as inconspicuously as possible, unobtrusive
