Playwright Lauren Yee's play, A Man, His Wife and His Hat, has been selected for presentation at the prestigious Playpenn Conference in July. Like the other chosen playwrights, Ms. Yee will bring her works-in-progress to Philadelphia for more than two weeks of support with artistic resources including a professional director of their choice, dramaturgical and design assistance and professional actors from the Philadelphia theatre community. For the third consecutive year the rehearsal period will be preceded by a three day retreat during which conference playwrights, directors and dramaturgs will become acclimated to one another, their plays and to the city. Playwrights will rehearse for two weeks with a team of artists devoted to the progress of their work, culminating in public staged readings from July 18 - July 24.

Honolulu, HI: Kumu Kahua holding auditions forIt’s All RelativeDirector James Nakamoto is seeking 10 actors and actresses. The Miyamoto’s appear to be a happy family, but in Edward Sakamoto’s dark comedy, nothing is what it seems. Our most popular playwright and the author of Aloha Las Vegas and Stew Rice unveils a fresh, funny and challenging portrait of a local family adrift in the modern world. Auditions will be held at Kumu Kahua Theatre, 46 Merchant Street, on Saturday, April 2, 2pm-5pm; Sunday, April 3, 6pm-9pm. The entrance into the theatre faces a park on Merchant Street.
